We thought we had seen it all, then the warlocks over at the custom shop placed this in our hands....oh were we wrong! We love, I mean absolutely love a paisley guitar, then they did it in Black & Gold...oh my!
This limited edition 68 Fender Stratocaster has wooed un in every way. The neck is a joy to grip and a wonderful size, not too big and not too small. On demoing the guitar we found the playability to be second to none. This has one of those magic necks that just let you perform some musical aerobatics with ease.
The tone on this Stratocaster is unbelievably Fender. And what we mean is that is really captures that "strat" sound of the 60's that we all know and love. The warm milky energy mixes perfectly with the glassy tones of the middle pickup. And then the bridge cuts through with a nice warmth without losing any of the bite we have come to know and love from our Fender single coils.
The finish is really something to behold. And the weight is also fantastic with a nice light and resonant piece of Alder. The Paisley shimmers and shines with the black and golds every so subtly. And the relic work is spectacular. The checking is superb and the slight rise of the paisley under the finish is perfect. And we love the finish left on the neck! The finish on the neck is so thin you can almost feel it ready to run away at any second. And once again before we move on...this thing is gorgeous! We really do get lost looking into the body and seeing where the paisley moves and the fractures in the finish and wood create a whole new canvas.
A standout classic, the ’68 Paisley instruments feature a bold, psychedelic-inspired aesthetic straight from the “flower power” era. The Limited Edition ’68 Paisley Strat Relic is an homage to these storied instruments, combining vintage-cool style with modern playability and tone. The two-piece alder body wears a Relic lacquer finish that will wear in a distinctly personal way. The lightly tinted riftsawn maple neck sports a urethane finish and medium-tinted lacquer headstock face—just like the originals. The “C”-shaped profile is comfortable for any playing style and the 9.5”-radius round-lam maple fingerboard hosts 21 6105 frets. The 3-ply, paisley covered parchment pickguard hosts a trio of hand-wound single-coil pickups for authentic Fender tone: a Texas Special bridge pickup, RWRP Fat ‘50’s middle pickup to reduce hum and a ’69 neck pickup, all tied together with Vintage Modified #2 wiring.
Other features include an American Vintage synchronized tremolo bridge, vintage-style tuning machines, bone nut and wing string tree with nylon spacer. Includes deluxe hardshell case, strap and Certificate of Authenticity.
